The NEW VIDEO CLIP - You Tube Greg Vail Sax - Smooth Jazz Classics CD
Are there any places I might go a read how to use this blog more effectively? I have seen some users actually RSS feed other sites they own to their page so updates from anywhere online were seen on the BLOG. I don’t really get the whole RSS thing and don’t really know where I can learn more about it.
This Memorial Day is like so many others. People in the US will enjoy some time off work and maybe some special family time. But why do we have the day off school or work? The reason can be felt and seen in the cemetery I drove by today - full of American flags, flowers and people remembering lost loved ones that have paid the ultimate sacrifice of life - to defend your rights to be free and say whatever you want without fear of reprise.
In our world today, many are crying out for the same thing so many of us enjoy without any thought of the huge blessing it truly is - FREEDOM is amazing and many do not have the gift we in the US take for granted. Many are dieing right now around the world simply because they believe living without freedom is not living at all.
Watch the following video and take note of the Founding Father’s quotes. They lived a little closer to the concept and challenge of freedom than many do today in the US. It was a huge thing and still is.
We are so blessed in the US to be an example of freedom to the world, but so need to relearn the responsibility involved in owning and maintaining this amazing gift!
God Bless America
Happy Memorial Day! We have much to be grateful for this Memorial Day - Freedom is a huge word that comes with sooooo much responsibility. We enjoy freedom and it came with a huge cost of life here in the US and everywhere that freedoms are expressed.
This Memorial Day - find someone that serves or has served and say THANKS!! If you know anybody that has lost a loved one in the service of country - please take the time to call or message them and thank them - tell them you love them too!!!!
I personally thank the men and women in uniform every time I see them! I love you guys!!! Thanks for serving all of us by serving the cause of freedom……
My Easter Video Clip features the Tenor Saxophone - unaccompanied solo - performing some classic Easter Hymns - The Old Rugged Cross, At The Cross and Amazing Grace - Images came from pictures I have taken of Crosses and Tomb images from Saddleback LF Campus. Happy Easter to all!
Sax Day again - Love it!
Today has been an interesting day! I was hired to test and review a new line of saxophones and spent most the day playing them. I called a sax friend and had him join me for the experience. We played them for each other and I made notes as to the performance of each sax.
Wayne Mestas is a long time friend and we have enjoyed saxophone hangs for years now. Last time was a Bari Sax day that I brought my Yamaha 62 Bari over to compare with the 3 bari saxes he has right now - a gold lacquered 52 he had Cryoed, a silver 62 and silver Selmer. We always have fun and today was no exception.
So - the saxes tested today - ALTO SAX - MacSax Empyreal Unlacquered - TENOR SAXES - MacSax Magnum Unlacquered, MacSax Mac 8 RTH Dark Lacquer, and Warburton Special Edition with the modular Ultimate Neck System. Really interesting instruments!!
I now have to create sample sound clips and clean up my notes on them. Always have fun when Saxophones are involved! Notes and MP3s will be delivered to MacSax and available at some point online for y’all to hear and see.
I also hit the record button early this morning on my new single - yet untitled. I did not want to bum anybody out so this first version of the basic track with melody is on EWI. I need to listen to it a bunch and decide how I want to play the melody first, then pick which saxophone and get a working track with the melody on it so we can work on the arrangement and orchestration. I am really excited about having new music to work on!
My other project right now is producing a few songs for a female vocalist/friend. It is always fun working on great performances and then taking it to production with some cool orchestration - adding Oboe and Cello and then some background vocals, then some supporting keyboards this weekend and into next. Still working on setting up my MAC with the best layout, drives, and power to hit these tracks big and hard.
Off to record saxophones now for the MacSax. Hope your weekend is awesome!
Greg Vail - SAXBOY - gvSAXBOY - Saxophonist and writer today……
Hey! The push for Christmas starts in the summer. The push for Valentines Day starts with the new year. NOW WHAT!?!?!
I have been working on new music! I love the new single we are working - Dean Grech, me and Reggie! It is an up tempo feel good track and it makes me smile! I have 3 others in my head to work out and start too. The goal is a new single for the radio release of Smooth Jazz Classics.
But then I always need new music for a NEXT CD! So - we are working this new team of writers with the goal of a new single for me and new CD for Dean Grech. I played on a great track on Dean’s upcoming CD the other day and I am really excited at the team concept to get things done. There is so much energy created when working with other people!
Gotta get back to some music! Stay tuned for updates and possible sneak peeks :)
